Ma, I’ve taken shelter of You!
I’ve taken shelter of You!
I’ve taken shelter at Your holy lotus feet.
I don’t want the pleasures of the body, Ma!
I don’t want people’s respect!
I don’t want the eight mystical powers.
Just do this: may I have pure devotion for Your holy lotus feet — desireless, stainless, selfless devotion.
And Ma, may I not be captivated by Your world-bewitching maya.
And in Your world of illusion
may I never have love for the objects of lust and greed.
Ma! Except for You, I have no one else.
I’m without any worship,
without any spiritual practice,
without any knowledge,
without any devotion.
Be gracious and give me devotion
for Your holy lotus feet.¹
